Happy Grey Cup Day

It's so great when the Chinook winds come to Calgary. Everybody is happier and the winter isn't so bad after all. It was a spring like day yesterday and is starting to be another spring day today.
Nothing makes a sports quilter happier than piecing a new design and watching/listening to the Canadian Football League, CFL, game. What's even better is that this game is for all the marbles. It's the Grey Cup 2013 game today.

The backyard has been pretty exciting lately. There has been a Red-Shafted Flicker visiting. It's either been feasting on the crabapple tree or drumming on the house decoration.

Snow Weekend

Ah, how wonderful it is to see gorgeous sunrises reflecting in the lake. But, thanks to a cold front from Alaska, yes, Alaska USA, it snowed all weekend and the lake has started freezing over.

Snow weekends are a great incentive to create. It took what seems like all weekend to sew these 12" blocks. Between not reading instructions carefully, adding 1+1 = 3, redesigning block, and sewing the wrong pieces together, each block took 3 hours. Stop and take a break you say! Can't do that. That would be silly. Have to keep piecing.

AHHHH Done!

Remembering

It's a quiet day, a reflecting day, today. Watching it snow. Listening to the Canada geese fly overhead. Reflecting on all the Canadians that gave of themselves to give us freedom and peace.

Treasure Block Winter

It is so grand to find a old treasure when looking for the beginning of a new quilt.

What a difference a week makes! On the fourth day of vacation, it snowed at home and melted the next day. Hooray, I missed the snow. Not! It snowed the next day after getting home. Everything was blue or white at dusk.

Alberta Skies

I've been told by many easterners that the Alberta skies are like none anywhere. Being a born Albertan, this sky was just another gorgeous sunrise.
