Blocks 34 to 36

This week we learn about Helen Harrison, Lucy Maud Montgomery and Louise Crummy McKinney, from Vancouver BC to Clifton PE.
The blocks are a mixed bag of, as one 150 quilt warrior says, small pieces. Just take your time.

Be prepared for next week as you will need to take your time in piecing one of the blocks. It is on the bias and small pieces. Your accuracy will definitely kick in. Maybe a little wine to settle your nerves. The block can be either carefully pieced or paper pieced. There will be an ah ha paper piecing tip if you already don't know about it.

Now, back to this week.

Paperless Paper Piecing 150

WARNING two Tuesdays from now, the easiest way to make one of the blocks is by paper piecing or paperless paper piecing. WHAT, paperless paper piecing? Yep, that's right.
In preparation you will need at least a 7" square of freezer paper, a post card or a piece of file folder weight cardboard, an Add-a-Quarter ruler or ruler that has a 1/4" line on it, rotary cutter, flower head pins and pencil.
You can watch this tutorial from Bryan House Quilts to get an idea how this works.

There are many hiking/walking trails in the city of Calgary that our hiking group does in the winter. This is a picture of some of the group at Confluence Park, standing in front of the "split rock", a glacial erratic that was moved tens of thousands of years ago from the Jasper Alberta area, about 500 km/310 miles northwest of Calgary.

Dr. Roberta Bondar is in the news lately. You may want to review her information in Block 19.

All of you are doing so well you deserve a treat this week. These blocks are so easy you will be done in no time.

Who has been inside the Parliament Buildings? This week we meet the woman that carved the walls and the stained glass windows. Then when you go to visit the parliament buildings, listen to hear what the buildings are saying.

CW 150 and World Juniors 2017 Montreal

Over Christmas and New Years a friend and I spent 12 glorious days in Montreal watching the World Juniors 2017. It was our 3rd time at the Juniors and are hoping to be at then in Vancouver/Victoria in 2019. I was so proud when they sent the Canadian flag around the arena.

Many of you did not receive the notification that blocks 28 to 30 are available on the website. It is a blogger thing that we have no control of. We'll try again.

Please make a note in your calendars to check the website every Tuesday after 10 am mountain time for the next set of blocks.
