Triple Geese

For those of you that preordered the 150 Canadian Women CD, they are in the mail. I hope you are as excited to get yours as I am to get mine. CDs are still available.

Now for the Triple Geese block. (Papa goose, mama goose and baby goose) I've been experimenting with some blocks and think this block is so cute.

For those of you that know me, if there is a way to eliminate seams I will figure out a way to do it. And because I'm now in love with the smaller blocks this block is 6" square finished. It'll look great in multi colours or scrappy one colour. You could even use it as an extra block in your 150 Canadian Women quilt.
Here goes.

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS
Purple: 1 - 3.25" x 6"
Orange: 1 - 2.5" x 4.5"
Yellow: 1 - 1.75" x 3"
White/Background:
2 - 3.25" x 3.75"
2 - 2.5" x 3.75"
2 - 1.75" x 3.75"

Step 1 - Layout each rectangle as shown. The background rectangle shorter measurement  should be at the top.

Step 2 - On each pair or background rectangles, draw a light 45 degree line from the top inside corner to the outside edge by placing the 45 degree line on the ruler on the inside edge of the rectangle. Then lightly draw the 45 degree line.

Step 3 - Place the right background rectangle on top of the goose rectangle right sides together and matching the outside edges.

Step 4 - Sew right beside the drawn diagonal line on the outside corner side.

Step 5 - Trim the corner off leaving a 1/4" seam allowance.

Step 6 - Press to the background.

Step 7 - Place the left background rectangle on top of the goose rectangle right sides together and matching the outside edges.

Step 8 - Sew right beside the drawn diagonal line on the outside corner side. Trim the corner off leaving a 1/4" seam allowance.

Step 9 - Press to the background. Trim each goose to 6.5" wide by placing the (0.25",3.25") mark on the ruler on the goose point. Trim the right side. Repeat for each goose.

Step 10 - Repeat Step 9 with the ruler on the other side and trim left side. Repeat for each goose.

Step 11 - Sew the three geese together. Should be 6.5" square.

Enjoy!
