When scrap piecing, it's interesting to see how fabric in similar colors go together no matter what the genre. The key here, is to use the fabric design scale proportionately to the size of the piece. This 9-patch is 8 1/2" square. Usually I do not worry about whether the stripes or plaids are square when cutting, but, in this piece maybe I should have. The two 3/8" strips appear to be rolling and make my eyes a little crazy and my stomach go wonky.
As for the title - If you like the fabric just do it and make the block. You never know until you do it.
This block just so happens to have similar colours to my new favourite mug.
Do what you like. Like what you do.
